Who operates MD Studio

MD Studio is operated by Marc Reid. For a privacy question or request, use the private contact route. A GitHub account is required. Do not put personal or confidential information in a public GitHub issue.

Your documents stay in your browser

MD Studio converts, edits, previews, and exports your Markdown and HTML in your browser. Document contents, pasted text, imported files, and filenames are not sent to an MD Studio document server or included in analytics.

Saving is optional and off by default. If you enable it, the current document and preferences are stored only in this browser's local storage. Browser storage is not encrypted, guaranteed, or a backup. It may be cleared or become unavailable because of browser settings, private browsing, storage eviction, device loss, or other events outside MD Studio's control. You can disable saving or clear stored data from Options.

Hosting and connection data

Cloudflare hosts, delivers, protects, and measures the performance of this website. Like other web hosts and security providers, Cloudflare receives technical connection information needed to serve requests, which may include an IP address, requested host and path, date and time, browser or device information, and security signals. This information is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, maintain security, and diagnose reliability problems.

MD Studio does not use this connection data to build advertising profiles or attempt to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare processes information under its privacy commitments and the service arrangements used to operate MD Studio.

Aggregate website analytics

MD Studio uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic and improve website performance. It may measure visits, page views, referring pages, approximate country, device and browser type, and page-load performance. Document contents, filenames, editor actions, and locally saved documents are outside this analytics boundary.

This analytics setup does not use cookies, browser local storage, fingerprinting, advertising profiles, or a persistent visitor identifier. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors' personal data and that the performance beacon discards the source IP address rather than storing it in its RUM databases or logs.

Cloudflare currently documents that unsampled Web Analytics beacon data is retained for seven days, longer-term data is sampled and aggregated, and the analytics dashboard makes data available for the previous six months. Cloudflare may update those service details.

Purpose and legal basis

MD Studio processes the minimum technical information needed to provide, secure, maintain, and understand use of the website. Where data-protection law requires a lawful basis, the basis relied on is the operator's legitimate interest in providing a reliable, secure, privacy-conscious free utility, balanced against the limited nature of the information involved. Optional browser saving occurs only when you choose to enable it.

MD Studio does not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or make decisions about people by automated profiling.

Service providers and international processing

Cloudflare provides hosting, delivery, security, and analytics. If you follow a feedback or private-contact link, GitHub will process information needed to provide its service under GitHub's own privacy terms. These providers operate internationally, so technical information may be processed outside your country subject to their applicable contractual and legal safeguards.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the site, its users, or others. MD Studio does not otherwise share document contents because it does not receive them.

Your choices and rights

You can use the editor without enabling local saving, clear saved browser data from Options, block the analytics beacon with browser tools, or stop using the site. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to ask about, access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Because MD Studio does not create accounts, persistent visitor identifiers, or document records, the operator may hold no information that can reasonably be linked back to you. Contact requests will be handled to the extent identification and applicable law permit.

Feedback

Feedback links open GitHub, where GitHub's own privacy terms apply. Public issues are visible to other people. Do not include confidential documents, personal information, credentials, or other sensitive material in an issue.

Changes

This notice will be updated before MD Studio introduces materially different analytics, accounts, cookies, server-side document processing, or other uses of personal data. The updated date at the top records the current version.
