Terms & Disclaimer
Last updated: July 23, 2026
These terms apply when you use MD Studio. If you do not agree with them, do not use the site. MD Studio is operated by Marc Reid and is provided free of charge.
What MD Studio provides
MD Studio is a general-purpose browser utility for converting HTML or rich text to Markdown, editing Markdown, previewing rendered output, and copying, downloading, or printing the result. It is not professional advice, a publishing service, a storage service, or a backup service.
Best-effort conversion
HTML-to-Markdown conversion and Markdown rendering are inherently imperfect and may be lossy. Formatting, structure, links, tables, metadata, or other content may be changed, omitted, or interpreted differently by MD Studio or by other software. Preview and export may also vary by browser, operating system, printer, and downstream Markdown renderer.
You are responsible for reviewing the Markdown and rendered output before publishing, sharing, importing it elsewhere, or otherwise relying on it. Do not use MD Studio as the sole control for critical, legal, financial, medical, safety-related, or other high-consequence material.
Your content and permitted use
You keep any rights you have in content you enter. MD Studio does not claim ownership of it. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right or permission to process and use the content and that your use complies with applicable law and third-party rights.
Do not use the site to break the law, infringe rights, distribute harmful material, interfere with the service, probe it without authorization, bypass security controls, or impose an unreasonable load on the site or its providers.
Documents, browser storage, and backups
Document processing occurs in your browser. Local saving is optional and off by default. When enabled, the current document is stored in that browser profile; it is not uploaded to an MD Studio document account.
Browser storage is not encrypted, guaranteed, synchronized, or backed up by MD Studio. It may be deleted, evicted, corrupted, overwritten, or become unavailable because of browser settings, private browsing, device loss, software failure, or other events. You are responsible for downloading or otherwise keeping independent copies of important work before replacing a document, clearing data, closing the browser, or relying on saved content.
Security and use of exported content
MD Studio uses security controls intended to keep its own preview and rendered-HTML exports inert. No test suite or browser application can guarantee the absence of every present or future vulnerability. User-authored Markdown is copied and downloaded as source and may behave differently in another renderer. You are responsible for assessing the safety and suitability of content in the software where you ultimately use it.
Availability and changes
The site is provided on a best-effort and as-available basis. There is no promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every browser or renderer, or preserved in its current form. Features may be corrected, changed, suspended, or withdrawn, and these terms may be updated. Material privacy changes are addressed separately in the Privacy notice.
Third-party services and software
Cloudflare provides hosting, security, and aggregate analytics. Feedback and private-contact links use GitHub. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. MD Studio also includes open-source software governed by its authors' licences; see the Third-Party Notices.
Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, or statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation and, where applicable, death or personal injury caused by negligence.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss; loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, anticipated savings, or goodwill; loss, corruption, or unavailability of data; reliance on unreviewed or inaccurate output; use of exported content in third-party software; or events outside the operator's reasonable control. This limitation does not apply to the extent a loss was caused by a failure to exercise reasonable care and skill or by another obligation that applicable law does not allow to be limited.
Applicable rights and resolving concerns
Applicable law governs your use of the site. These terms do not deprive a consumer of mandatory protections or access to courts that applicable law provides. If you have a legal, privacy, or security concern, please first use the private contact route so it can be reviewed without publishing sensitive information. A GitHub account is required.
